Today is the 13/12, in Sweden the Lucia day. We celebrate Lucia with lots of lighted candles, beautiful songs and nice saffron buns. Lucia was the name of an Italian saint. When celebrated in Sweden Lucia is dressed in a white dress with a red ribbon around her waist, symbolising the blood of Christ, and with a crown of burning candles on her head. The tradition is very beautiful and it is, as so many old traditions, a pagan tradition assimilated by the Christian church.
