I miss Brighton a lot! Yesterday I went to “The English shop” in Stockholm where I bought scones, Batchelors processed peas and a Chicken and mushroom pie. I wanted to pretend I was in Brighton but it did not work that well. Today is Saturday, the weather is grey and a little snow is left. I am now going out to by a flapjack and visit the pharmacy. In Sweden our pharmacies are more specialized than for example Boots, that also sell perfumes, cosmetics etc. The most amazing pharmacy’s I have ever visited was in Morocco and India. In Morocco they sold a lot of exotic tinctures and remedies like snake poison. In India everything in the store was in a structured chaos, people everywhere amongst open shelves with Pillboxes and other remedies stapled on top of each other.
Tobia and I had a very nice New Year celebration in Falun a town in Dalarna, north of Uppsala, with some good friends. We warmed up with our friends in their sauna and run out to cool down by diving naked in to the snow in their courtyard. It was great fun, also for curious neighbours I expect.
For dinner we had lots of shellfish; lobster with wild mushrooms, crayfish, oysters, shrimps, mmmm. I was a bit hesitant to the crab however as crab flesh looks a bit grey and, hummm, gooey. This, I understand, is have it is supposed to look.
At 12.00 we toasted and looked at all the fireworks around the city, as is usual in Sweden on New Year.
