Efter att ha blivit både rejält Diggad och Boing Boing:ad förvandlades Stefans vanligen tech-geekiga Ogle Earth till en shouting match mellan pro- och anti-nuke 'em-ståndpunkter i fallet Iran. En person skriver:

I am from Kentucky so I can proudly proclaim to be a hillbilly and a redneck, but I am not racist. Iran is not a peaceable country and they have nothing but hate in their hearts to use the nuclear program for, if it were only for energy that would be fine but I cannot believe that a country that breeds terrorists and hatred worse than the Nazi regime or the skinheads or kkk could be believed to be building a nuclear reactor for peace.

Stefans grej är hur som helst hur coolt som helst: satellitbilder i Google Earth som visar hur fabrikerna för att anrika uran i Isfahan och Natanz har utvecklats över tid, ett riktigt intressant sätt att använda Google Earth för att påvisa historiska skeenden. Han ställer några ärliga frågor (questions that governments now need to answer if they want their version of events to be credible) utifrån hur bilderna kan tolkas, huruvida det verkligen är nödvändigt med ett atomvapenangrepp för att slå ut fabrikerna:

Couldn't the underground facilities at Isfahan be rendered inoperable by three deftly aimed conventional missiles at each of the tunnels? So what if the stuff inside is intact, if nobody can get to it? And as for the 8 meters of rubble and concrete over the centrifuge halls in Natanz (as reported by ISIS) — it looks like conventional weapons can easily deal with that: The US military's GBU-28 deep penetration bunker buster bomb is advertised as being able to penetrate such depths. There is therefore no need to progress to depleted uranium bombs or tactical nukes.

Update: Stefan postar vidare hos Ogle Earth om hur forskare vid University of Colorado publicerar "overlays" i Google Earth som visar hur det står till med snö- och iskoncentrationen i världen just nu och vad det säger om klimatförändringar. Återigen är det det historiska perspektivet som förhoppningsvis kan visualiseras tydligare när det görs så tydligt i Google Earths geografiska representation.
